Betrayals and Ecstasies

DNDC 006 CD 1996
€20.00

Betrayals and Ecstasies was recorded and produced at J.A.M Digital Studios in Kells, County Meath. This departure from Quivvey marked the beginning of a long and productive relationship with J.A.M where all the following albums and projects were recorded. It is a personal album as texts written by Mark St.John Ellis were used for the first time in the more conventional lyrical context, as opposed to the researched chants of previous projects. Some of the writing from the album was to be published by Textuel in their anthology Rimbaud aprés Rimbaud. Writers of the Decadent era, Paul Verlaine, Remy de Gourmont, Charles Baudelaire and the closing piece by Edna St. Vincent Millay were also set to music. It was engineered and assisted by James Quinn and the photography and artwork were by Daniel Faoro.
